Magnetic plate

created by Avatar André Lauer 10 months ago

The production of a magnetic plate so that your cutlery won´t fall down on the floor when transporting.

The Benefit

No more being angry because your cutlery falls from your plate. No more chopped feet because your kitchen knife fell down.

  • @ Simon and Stani:
    first of all, there are some metals that can be used for the microwave. I just know from my microwave that is also an oven, kind of all in one. There i have a metal grill inside. The question is if this metal sticks to a magnet
    The next thing, why should the plate be magnetic and not the cutlery. I am thinking of a microwave usable metal inlay in the plate and the cutlery is magnetic.
    One great side effect: when you have limited space in your kitchen you can install a metal bar to the wall, where you stick on all your cutlery and therefor have more space in your drawer. I guess a designer could come up with great ideas what can be done with magnetic cutlery.

    @André:
    hahaha. yes, F*** all the non skilled people who are not able to cook without microvawe. I guess i didnt use the micro for over 3 years, and i am cooking every day.

    @R. Jane:
    My company produces plastic cups from very high quality. If you have metal tables in your yacht or a metal lamination on your table, I guess it shouldnt be a problem to produce plastic cups with a magnetic underpart, that is inlayed into the plastic.

  • i also don't think the fact that you can't use the plates in a microwave oven is a major problem, after all microwave ovens are not a necessity for cooking anything. then again, guessing that the target group for this product probably could be people with limited space or time for cooking and eating, the microwave incompatibility might possibly be something working against your
    product acceptance ...

    in any case you will have to make sure that the magnetic area doesn't cover the whole plate, otherwise the process of eating itself may get a little tiresome ;) (and also when stacking your plates in the cupboard or in the dishwasher that might get a little funny if they repel each other too much)

    plus a few research questions: how much % of cutlery is actually ferromagnetic? maybe there are different approaches to making the cutlery "stick" to the plate? maybe there are already other solutions out there for this?

  • @ Stanimira Well, I don´t see how the whole microwave thing is a problem. Microwaves are totally overrated and quite useless for skilled people, so why even bother using them.

    I guess there would also be a possibility to get your drinks magnetic, actually we can get almost everything to be magnetic.
    The unfortunate thing is that angry housewives can no longer throw cutlery at their husbands, which is a major part of our culture. Everything comes at a price.

  • If I was a sailor or had a yacht this would be a dream! No more tables with edges because you can trust your cutlery is not going any where – but what about my drink, can that be magnetic too?

  • how do you want to solve the microwave oven problem? if you put some magnetic elemnt on a plate, you can't use the plates in a microave oven anymore?
