"twitter, facebook, etc. automatic connect"-mashup

created by Avatar ethem k 10 months ago

the average digital native uses more than one social community or microblogging system like facebook, twitter, flickr, tumblr, lastfm etc.

every community defines itself with connecting to other participants. so an average digital native has a lot of friends in several communities. the most of this connections are identical.

so my goal is to achieve a system/solution to find automatically e.g my friends from facebook in other social communities.

The Benefit

using more than one social community should not be feel painful for you, if you want invite your (already) existing friends from existing social communities!

  • This is something everybody would like to have. There are some tools online that post your update to multiple networks, and some other tools that let you get updates from your friends from the different social networks.

And I think that with facebook.connect you can use your contacts from facebook on another site. (I might be wrong here, never tried it).

A mash-up could be done that might look something like meebo.com for IM (you only need to make an account at meebo and provide your username, password for the other chat system you are, and when you login you have all your contacts from all of the IM networks).

The drawbacks of such a mashup is that when you make a system that connects all of those networks, you need to be assured that thay don't change their system. Even a tiny change can mess up everything, and I don't think users would like that...

So, it must be an agreement between the companies themselves, which is kind of out of our reach. We can just complain and send emails hoping they will spend time and money to collaborate and make a unified system.
